Beautiful BC

Well it’s long overdue so let me  catch you up on our travels, here goes.

You don’t realize how beautiful your province is until you make a point of really looking at it and we both said we won’t be seeing the mountains for awhile so we have been soaking up the scenery. We travelled along the north side of the river in Kamloops after a visit with school  chums Dan and Sue, thanks guys nice to get caught up, your granddaughters are beautiful! We have never done the road along the river in Kamloops, was great for a motorcycle then off thru the valley  on the Trans Canada Highway thru Sorrento and Salmon Arm. The skies opened up and the rain gear came on,must be BC,and it is still spring! Final destination was Armstrong, where we stayed with good friends Bill and Cathy and got caught up on our lives. Feet up , a few drinks and great conversation .

Then on the road to Kelowna where our friends, Ken and Betti are staying with their beautiful 5th wheel. We over looked the green lush  valleys of Kelowna vineyards and orchards, waking up to the sounds of birds and roosters. Nice to see Kelowna lush and green we usually travel to the Okanangan in the late summer when it is brown and the end of the season. Trees are in full glorious bloom check this one outimage

Time to get on the road ,we have many miles to go, so left Kelowna heading towards the back roads past Big White turn off , traffic minimum, lots of deer and caught a glimpse of a bear in a pasture. Coming into Rock creek , seeing the devastation the big fire caused in 2015, all I can say is WOW, must have been pretty terrifying.

We meandered on cruising with flowing creeks and rivers on one side or the other , climbing up a few big hills , temperature dropping and snow in the bush when we got to the summits, clouds looking ominous but we managed to stay dry and kept heading East which looked brighter. Finally destination Cranbrook, booked in to the Lazy Bear Lodge, great to see a sign that says We Love Motorcycles!!! Also first time we’ve ever been handed a beer on check in , the free beer for motorcyclists, highly recommend staying there if you are going that way.

So stayed tuned we are off to Alberta…..

Dodging the clouds

So day two of actually being on the road , finds us in Kamloops , having had a long overdue visit with Kari and family , we had a fun evening I now know all about the rock of ages, great music . We had a good ride up it tried to rain a couple of times around Hope but our strong rain gear stowed in the trunk proved good medicine to keep it at bay , we had a great visit with our friends Donna and Charlie , thanks for the visit have fun on orca , had a good visit with family thanks for a great evening to Wendy and skip , and a lovely visit at moms, did you find the macaroni yet see, see you all later .

The road we have travelled so many times to this area , still seems so beautiful , as we said , when asked, by a seven year old  , why do we travel ? “We are going to see the rest of Canada just to confirm that we do live in the best part of the country .”

So looking forward , today will be a day of visiting some school friends Dan and Roy and arriving in Armstrong  tonight , weather looks dry but cloudy so should be a good ride.

We will soon be in the presence of our gurus , navigator and Chauffeur  where we will be instructed in the art or picture insertion , stay tuned and be patient .

PS

Pearl the girl is doing well (that’s the bike) for those who don’t know ttfn

It’s Go Day

Boy is there a lot of stuff to organize and do when you are going away for a few months. No wonder our lives are so busy, friends to see, food to eat, bills to pre pay and cats and house sitters to organize. But we did it ,we are on the road, starting off with sunshine let’s hope it continues . So first thing, we missed the ferry and I lost my butt cushion, this is a major concern for the members of the feather butt international(FBI). But we will soldier on, friends and family to visit in Vancouver, so our first leg we will not be travelling far. So stay tuned

Getting closer

Well the days are flying by as we are getting closer to our departure date. Lots to organize and lots to plan, and lots of praying that the weather is with us. Took a look at the weather forecast, HMMMM not looking so good, temperatures dropping, snow in Lethbridge , maybe we are going to early! Well you got to pick a date and go for it, so we are off next week and only going as far as Vancouver . Family and friends to see before we head off on our Canadian adventure.

Mrs. Baboon

Mrs. Baboon is getting excited it will be a long journey for her and she hasn’t seen much of Canada, she was born in Northern Norway and  has been our mascot on all our travels. She is very excited!! So  I am going to attempt to send a link to everyone so you can follow us along on our travels. Stay tuned
